The Fine Arts: the Saugatuck/Douglas area's reputation as a haven of the fine arts continues to grow. Today over 30 galleries call the Saugatuck/Douglas area home.

There is growth in quality as well as quantity: area galleries, studios and craft boutiques offer a breathtaking variety of styles and genres to please even the most discerning eye. Many galleries feature the works of nationally-recognized artists as well as up-and-coming local favorites.

Our White Sand Beaches: Saugatuck/Douglas offers an abundance of waterfront actives, from swimming and sunbathing at its top-ranked beaches, to exploring the sand dunes via dune schooners, to taking a leisurely cruise along the Lake Michigan shoreline.

There are several ways to be water-bound. Fishing charter boats are rigged and ready to satisfy the angler in you. Jet skies are available for rent and sailboats for charter, or rent a paddle board and spend the afternoon on Lake Kalamazoo or Lake Michigan.

Shopping: in Saugatuck/Douglas, shopping is an art form all its own. A wonderful array of shops offer everything from clothing and housewares to Tibetan monk chimes and collectible dolls. Browser or serious shopper, there's something for everyone... all at prices to satisfy individual budgets.

Dining: you'll never go hungry - or want to - in the Saugatuck/Douglas area. The many dining establishments cater to almost any palate and serve a wide variety of tasteful, satisfying foods, from ethnic cuisine to local seafood. Select from at least two dozen restaurants, ranging from the upscale to the extremely casual. (Children are always welcome.) Also not to be missed: the fudge, ice cream, and pastry shops that offer nothing but sweet temptation!

Recreation: in the mood for a little onshore activity? We've got it. Golfers can challenge the golf courses in the area. For keglers, Douglas is home to the area's only bowling alley.
